4 / 12 Shanghai Chinese Restaurant, formerly Cooke’s

Peer through the window as Bernadette Halpin (editor) and Gary Molloy (artist and poet) remember the eels slithering. Shanghai is a Cockney island preserved by Chinese mariners. They took over Cooke’s Eel Pie and Mash Shop in 1997 and kept the decor. Before you move onto the next soundtrack, make sure you go inside to see for yourself.
